Are you all tired?
In today’s stressful society, many people are sick not only in body but also in mind.
Some may have a hard time getting up every morning, feel depressed from the moment they wake up, or push through their difficult feelings to get to work. Others may have a hard time at work, but are unable to quit and don’t know what to do.
Such people should take a break from work now.
If you are tired, you should take a break from work. However, even if you know such logic, people around you are working harder than you, staying at the office longer than you, so you cannot be the only one to take it easy. I think many people think that way.
Unfortunately, however, their hard work is never rewarded. If you continue to push yourself too hard, you may break down your body and even your mind. And if you develop depression as a result, you may even spend several years in treatment.
Recognize that you don’t have to compare yourself to others

Do not overdo it.
Any object in this world will break if force is applied to it. The same can be said for human beings.
When we push ourselves to our limits, we too can break down, ultimately resulting in depression.
Do not force yourself. Everyone knows this, but why do so many people force themselves?
It is because they do not recognize that they are overreacting. It is because they compare themselves to others.
For example, you are tired after working hard and want to go home. However, your colleagues and seniors are still working. When you see that, don’t you feel that you have to work harder?
When you see someone working harder than you, you feel that you are not working hard enough. This causes you to push yourself harder.
The more serious you are, the more likely you are to be depressed.
The more serious you are, the more you compare yourself to others, the harder you have to work, the more you have to push yourself. Comparing yourself to others and thinking that way is only making you suffer.
Each person’s stress is different, and their physical condition and other circumstances outside of work are also different. It is meaningless to compare superficial aspects when the basis of those aspects are different to begin with.
Even if other people work longer hours than you, or have more work than you, you cannot evaluate yourself in comparison to them.
People who think it only takes effort are overworked

You like the fact that you are working hard.
Think back to your childhood.
Compared to now as an adult, don’t you think that there were many things you were able to accomplish through hard work as a child and while growing up?
Because you were in the stage of growing both physically and mentally, there were many things that you were not able to do, but through hard work you were able to do.
However, as we grow up, our bodies stop growing, society becomes more complex, and we realize that our natural talents are often no match for our efforts.
Those who push themselves too hard will continue to hold on to the idea that they can do anything if they put in the effort they experienced as children, and they will continue to work hard. Therefore, they do not realize that they are pushing themselves too hard.
The reason they cannot do it is because they are not trying hard enough. They think so and push themselves too hard.
What happens when you push yourself too hard

Overwork breaks down in the order of “Body, Relationships, Behavior, and Mind”.
As mentioned earlier, people often do not realize that they are overworking themselves.
So how does one realize that he or she is overworking? It appears as a change in one’s body and mind when one is overworking.
First of all, when you are pushing yourself too hard, your body will start to change.
Sudden stomach aches, inability to sleep at night, loss of appetite, and fatigue are examples. I am sure you have experienced these things before.
Next, there is a change in relationships.
They may become emotionally attached to those around them, their conversations with friends are always negative, such as complaining, or their minds are constantly filled with complaints and anxiety, and they often become irritable with others.
And next to relationships are behavioral anomalies.
Increased drinking and smoking, overeating and picky eating are also characteristic aberrations. Many people seem to want to eat a lot, especially sweets.
And if they continue to overexert themselves, the next change occurs in their mind. That is depression.
Depression is the final physical change that results from overworking oneself. The person is constantly anxious and becomes dominated by the idea that it would be better if he or she did not exist.
They may have difficulty thinking complex thoughts and calmly, make more mistakes at work, and have trouble understanding what is being said. And you will always think negatively and short-circuited.
In this way, the overworking will cause malfunctions in the following order: body, relationships, behavior, and mind.
If you are experiencing any physical problems, such as not sleeping well or having a poor appetite, you should be aware that you are pushing yourself too hard right now.
People who are only conscious of short-term goals tend to overwork themselves

Goal setting for people who are overworked.
People who get overworked are often chasing an immediate goal.
For example, it is generally easier to work hard when you have a clear short-term goal, such as selling 100 units of a certain product by the end of this week, but if you continue to do so, you will become exhausted.
For example, people who can set long-term goals can think about how far they want to go in a month, and can set pacing and other things to make it easy, but people with only short-term goals can imagine dividing a month into days, running each day as fast as they can, and repeating that for 30 days.
Burnout is said to be prone to this same cause. Short-term goals can be effective at times, but be careful not to repeat them, as you can end up pushing yourself too hard.
Be aware of the balance between dynamic and static

Humans have two memories, “dynamic” and “static.”
Humans have two memories, “dynamic” and “static,” and it is important to be aware of the balance between the two.
For example, if you are constantly engaged in “dynamic” work, such as physical labor, you will be exhausted if you engage in physical activities on your days off as well. Therefore, doing “static” activities such as reading or watching movies on your days off will help you achieve balance, stabilize your body and mind, and relieve stress.
On the other hand, if you have a “static” job that does not involve physical activity, such as working on a computer or doing clerical work, it is a good idea to engage in sports or other physically active activities on your days off.
Set a time to finish the work

Control by time, not by physical sensation.
Depending on your physical condition and the kind of work you are doing that day, you may feel that you can continue to work later today.
However, if you decide the degree of your hard work based on such a temporary feeling, it will cause you to lose your balance somewhere.
If you decide to finish work at 6:00 p.m., you finish work even if you are in the middle of work or even if you feel you can continue working more. When you are working hard, you will inevitably want to continue working past your working hours, but this is what causes you to overwork yourself.
There are many cases in which people who continue to work long hours end up getting sick and suffering from depression, so it is extremely important to set a specific time to end your work.
In fact, it is more efficient to take a good rest when the time is up and work hard the next day to make up for the work that was not completed, rather than continuing to work at a leisurely pace without a set end time.
The same goes for responding to work phone calls and e-mails after work and even on holidays. By keeping your mind focused on work, your head and heart cannot rest and you will continue to be stressed.
Know that you don’t have to overwork to live

Just being healthy is enough.
Even if you understand what we have discussed so far, you may think that reality is not so easy. You can’t take time off from work, and some of you may not be able to quit even if you wanted to.
But it is not that they cannot quit, it is that they are making their own decision not to quit.
Realistically speaking, a company is not affected that much by one employee quitting. Rather, will they take responsibility for your health or depression?
You may be temporarily unemployed, but there are a variety of jobs available and ways to make a living.
Quitting your job is not always the right answer. However, if you do not take care of your own body and mind on your own, it will be irreversible.
If you are feeling something wrong with your body right now, why don’t you stop for a moment and calmly think about your future life? Work is important, but it is a prerequisite that your body and mind are healthy, and that should be the top priority in your life.
